I was most shortsighted....cannot remember the figures but let's just say that I was probably -5 in left eye and perhaps a little less in the right....I was also suffering from a fairly high astigmatism. I had all the pitfalls explained to me thoroughly by my very delightful and reassuring Dr. Osman. He is a wonderful, caring surgeon, who puts his patients at ease. This meant so much to me because I never, ever enjoyed having my eyes tested, due to a bad experience when I was first diagnosed with myopia in my early teens. The result was that I had a 'phobia' of optical appointments and even put off going for eye tests throughout the years.i am now 52 years old and am happy to report that going through this procedure has actually rid me of all 'fears' of the optician!! I look upon the staff at Optimax as a team of good friends who look after me and my eyesight. It is now April 2009 and I have went through a lot of changes in my eyesight. It has been a progressive journey of slow improvement for me. My left eye had a bit of blurring at times and I still had some astigmatism which has been hard to adjust to at times. I also had some dryness. But with some changes in my diet and taking Flaxseed Oil tablets and Eye vitamins, and healing myself with Reiki therapy (I'm a Reiki master)......I have actually helped to accelerate the healing process.I am going for a medical review at the end of this month to determine whether I need a 'top up' procedure done on my right eye. Dr Osman is going to leave the left eye alone as he explained that it has improved immensely and he will be leaving it to help with my close reading. I actually have no problems with reading at present, but he tells me that this can happen as we get older. (Who's getting older? Not me! haha)Although I do not look forward to having another operation...(if it is necessary).....I do not mind going back to have this checked out, because as I more or less said before, I feel as if I am in good hands. :)Even with the small problems I have had, I would say that my life has changed radically since having this done. I look and feel better...have more confidence...and can drive during the day without glasses.....who could ask for more?I just wish that I had been financially abundant enough ten years ago to have this done. I would tell anyone who can afford to have this done to go ahead.......I have no regrets whatsoever.....even if my eyes were to remain just as they are right now without further improvement....I am delighted!:DPlease do not hesitate to contact me on the following email address if you wish to ask me any questions. I am happy to tell you more. carolvleslie@btinternet.com Nirvanawoman
