I had my first treatment in August 2004 with flps cut, and have had a retreatment in January 2009 my eyes had regressed and I had no middle distance and had to wear glasses to watch TV I also needed glasses for computor work and all reading, I was having problems driving and had resigned myself that I would have to start wearing glasses all the time again. I did not know you could have retreatment and when I had my eyes tested and found that I did need glasses all the time. I was told that I was suitable for retreatment by Optical Express and had retreatment which has been wonderful as I have perfect middle distance and can now see the lines on the face of the man on the moon, only drawback is I still need glasses for reading books but am sitting here typing on my laptop with no problems. I wish I had monovision as I do not wish to have to use glasses for reading especially when shopping to see sell by dates etc.

Sounds like i've got the same as you guys. +0.75 and an astigmatism 0.75 in right. -0.25 and astigmatism 0.5 in left. Had my op 5 months ago. At my last consultation a few days ago they said to give it a few months to see if they change again and are considering offering a re-treat.

I'm not sure this is a good idea opening up my eyes again ? Is there a good time to have this done..ie has the eye healed completely ? Is there a set amount of time i should wait ? Or should i get it done now ? Really unsure of what to do.

I'm even considering getting a pair of glasses for TV / low light etc. Back on the eye drops and flaxseed in the desperate hope this might somehow help.

Any experiences etc would be most welcome...good and bad.

Hi There

I just wanted to let you know that I had my left eye retreated on Friday 6th Feb. I was so worried and very very nearly didn't do it. Please go ahead and do it, it was so quick and only stung for about 2 hours afterwards. No light sensitivity at all like the first time round obviously as the flap was already cut.

My left eye was 0.75 and I am yet to have my eye test for my current perscription but I can already tell that it is just as good as my right eye which is perfect! I have my one week appointment on Saturday. I am back on the drops which is the only down side (remembering them). One thing I was not prepared for was that I could see the doctor use the tool to re-open the flap YUK! But I should really have known!

I have no regrets already about going for retreatment and only wish I hadnt spend so long debating and worrying myseLf about the issue.

(I had Intralase lasik with Wavefront in October 08 starting perscription was -1.25 in my left & -1.75 in my right both with astigmatism)

I'm considering retreatment too. I had my treatment in July 2008. At first the results seemed great, but then I realised I was squinting for the eye tests. My eyes seem to be getting worse not better now. At my last check up, I had -.25 and -.75 with astigmatism in both too, which had got worse since the previous check up.

My concern is that the risks are higher 2nd time around although I don't actually have any information to base this on, its just a feeling (with the flap having to be reopened and all that, will it lay flat again, worry, worry). But having paid out for the intitial treatment, it would seem a bit stupid to not take the free retreatment, I'm just not sure I want to go through it again.

I have an appointment next week at which point the consultant said they would possibly discuss retreatment. My eyesight is awful today. Looking across the room at work or down the street, everyone has two sets of eyes. :crying:

Any advice/information welcomed ...

my prescription was unstable for over a year. it has now been 16 months and after a lot of deliberation i have deceided not to go ahead with retreatment - partly because i couldnt seeem to find out about other peoples experiences. My right eye is fine - it is just my left that is weak (about -.75) i am coping well without the retreatment and have actually found that i have had an imrpovement in just the last couple of months - they are still changing!! The first expereince was so scary that it put me off the retreatment too! I hope that your eyes settle down too - i would say just give it a while - let me know how you get on!!

Hi - I am considering retreatment for a weaker left eye after treatment in August of last year. I have an appointment on wedensday at the reading clinic and would like to read some other peoples experiences of reatreatment - can anyone tell me what the added risks are? success rates? i presume they are much different from the advertised rates ont he websites.
