I have today booked myself in at the Manchester clinic . I received an offer of half price treatment in the post & decided that I must "go for it". my appointment is for the 1st April. On the day I will be having my consultation & treatment. (my choice) This was after I had been considering laser treatment for at least the past 2 years. I am a -6 R & -6.75 L with astigmatism in both eyes     I have just been reading through the , good & not so good experiences etc on the forum & am now unsure if I have made the right decision!!!   Help!!

Hi Tracey

I too have received the half price offer and decided to 'go for it'!  I'm booked in at the Ipswich Clinic for a consultation on 19th March and procedure 5 days later on 24th.  Feeling quite excited that I have made the decision (after 5 years of considering doing it) but, like you, feeling rather apprehensive.

Just found this site by chance and am now feeling both confused and nervous now that I have read some of the bloggs on here.

I see that you have an April appointment - I was told that I would have to have mine in March only for the half price offer.

My fear is the misting or ghosting that they talk about, or the halo effect around lights.  I didn't know that you could get a wrinkled eye flap, or experience such pain.

However, the thought of being able to wake up and see, not suffering dry eyes with my contacts, not wearing my glasses on holiday or on a plane, being able to swim underwater and see - would make it all worthwhile!

Hopefully, I will go through with the procedure but I've got almost a month to 'scare' myself silly with worry!

I to received the offer through the post. I've been considering having laser eye surgery for 1-2 years now, ever since my prescription became stable. I'm booked in for a consultation next wednesday at the Birmingham clinic. I cant wait to finally be free of glasses (i only wear them when at home) and contact lenses (daily disposables). The contacts always cause my eyes to be imflammed and feel dry. I do have mild astigmatism and i'm short sighted. I was told when i was a child (before i needed glasses) that my tear ducts are not working properly due to allergies so i'm a bit worried that i'll be one of the unlucky ones who have very dry eyes after surgery.

Good luck at your consultations and surgery.

I also got the half price offer to be carried out at Ipswich but I have decided not to go ahead after speaking to an advisor. This is purely because my prescription means I would need reading glasses even if the surgery was a complete success. This is the presbyopia problem with people over 45, I'm 57 and I have seen plenty of my friends with previous perfect vision now hunting for specs to see the computer screen, read a menu or the price of something in the supermarket.

I just don't see the point now, maybe if I had had the chance 20 years earlier.
