Hi

I am due to have consultation and surgery in a few weeks with Dr Khurshid at Bristol Optimax

I have read his profile and i am slightly concerned that he has only been with Optimax for less than one year and I cant seem to find any information on any previous Laser eye surgery experience by Dr Kurshid.

has anyone else has surgery done by Dr Khurshid or the Bristol clinic? if anyone can share there experiences then they will be of great help!

many thanks

Hi,

Have you had your consultation and surgery with Dr Khursid? I am due to have mine tomorrow with him and was just wondering how you got on.

I too am slightly concerned that he has only been with the Bristol clinic for about a year. I did ask for info on the number of treatments he has performed and was told around 1,600.

Let me know how you get on.

Sharon

Dr Kurshid operated on me Thursday last week. So far so good, although my vision is still slightly blurry, which I am being told is perfectly normal and part of the healing process.

Cheers

Hi,

Dr Khurshid treated me on Wednesday last week (25th March). The next day I was told I had 20/20 vision, but I am still struggling to see long distance and things seem blurry. Glad to hear you are experiencing the same and its just part of the process. Let me know how you get on, its reasuring to hear from people in the same boat.

If Jan or any of the other girls that were treated on Wednesday in Bristol are reading this, let me know how you're getting on.

Hi Sharon,

It is reassuring to hear from people in a similar situation. From the research I've carried out post op it's very clear to me that a small percentage struggle long term but most people recover and it just takes time. To start with I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed, but patience is key. I initially thought that a few days after the treatment I would have at least as good vision as I had whilst wearing my lenses but thats not the case and still isn't, however it's only day 4.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who's vision was perfect at this stage of my recovery?

Treatment: Intralasik with Wavefront, 9 days ago with Dr Khurshid

Hello! Hope you guys are getting on ok!

I had my eyes done on 25th March at the Bristol branch (Hello SharonH!)

I've got to say that the staff there were lovely and friendly and did their best to put us at ease. Having a good chat with other patients helped too!

At the moment my eyes are still not clear.

My left eyes is misty when looking close up and far away. My right eye is clear close up but if the distance vision doesn't improve with it I'll probably still have to wear glasses as things are still pretty blurred.

My night vision is better than it was but still very haloed. Lights are way too bright and seem much bigger than they are.

I was supposed to have my second aftercare appointment last wednesday but couldn't go as I'd have to drive back home in the dark and truley felt this would be dangerous at the moment.

After saying that, yesterday I DID drive in the dark and I can see my vision has improved as far as haloes are concerned! (Whoop whoop!) It seems to vary from hour to hour.

It's still hit and miss throughout the day. My eyes are very dry. I'm using the dry eye tears at least every hour, but usually more regular than that. I'm nearly out of the box I was provided with and have another 2 bigger bottles that I'm using also.

At night my eyes ache. I guess this is only to be expected as I had my eyes cut open only 9 days ago!!

I've been a bit upset over the past few days as other people I've spoken to who have undergone the same treatment seem to have had much better vision in a shorter space of time. I've been wondering if I've done the right thing, wondering if I should get a pair of cheap specs to help me see clearer until they get better (if they will, fingers crossed)

How are you guys doing now? Have you had your 1 week check up yet? I've got mine on tuesday 7th April (nearly a week late!) I had to have hubby drive me there and back as we live in Cornwall so we've got quite a drive. Not sure if my eyes would hold up for that journey if I was driving.

I really hope things are good for you guys!

Overall I'm kind of happy, but hope things get better.

I had my op on the 24th march at newcastle ive just read your post + see that you are using bigger bottles of eye drops, now im no expert and i may have been missinformed , I hope you dont mind me mentioning this but i asked one of the receptionist's / assistants ?? at my check up and was told i could use any brand of drop as long as it is in an individual vial , and not 2 use drops out of a bottle , she did tell me why but i cant remeber exactly (sorry) it might be worth u checking with your clinc .

Hi Richie,

Thanks for that. I am desperately trying to eek out the dry eye drops I was provided with as I'm not entirely sure they'd be the best. I used to use this particular brand before I had surgery as my eyes used to get dry with contact lenses too, but am not too keen on using them now.

Got my next eye appointment on tuesday so will stock up on the allergan ones!

If anyone has any clues about other brands that are just as good please let me know!

Cheers,

Janthea

Hi all,

I had my 2nd Aftercare appointment on Friday and I now feel very positive. The optician tested my eyes and has confirmed I have near 20:20 in my left eye and just past driving standard in my right one, hense my vision still being a little blurry for distances overall. The healing is continuing and I have noticed an improvement over the last 4 or 5 days. It's still a waiting game and patience is still important. I have another appointment booked in for 4 weeks time and I will be expecting to be near to the final outcome around that time, however it can still take up to 6 months to correct itself totally. I made sure I asked all the questions that were on my mind in the 2nd appointment which also made me feel a lot more positive.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi All,

(Hi Jan - glad you found the forum, was wondering how you were getting on)

I think I pretty much at the same stage a Jan. By the middle of last week (a week after my treatment) I was wondering whether I had done the right thing. My vision seemed really blurry and not as clear as when I had contacts in. I was worrying that the vision you have a few days later is the vision you end up with. By Friday (the day of my aftercare appointment) my vision seemed clearer, but still not perfect, tended to vary and my left eye was worse than my right. I didn't feel confident enough to drive to Bristol on my own, so Ed drove me.

At the aftercare appointment they said my flaps had healed nicely and there was no sign of infection. She did a sight test. I managed to push her for the results as she said the results after a week are meaningless and it can take up to 3 months for your vision to settle. Anyway, she told me I was -0.5 in my right eye and -0.75 in my left (with 0.5 astigmatism in my left), but said this would improve as the tissue settles into its new position. I think I could read the second from bottom line with my right eye, but only about half way down with my left. I felt really positive coming out of the aftercare appointment and felt I shouldn't worry just because I didn't have perfect vision a few days later. She said everyone is different and the healing process can be different for different people.

She did say I have very dry eyes and need to increase my refresh drops to every hour (it's very difficult to remember when you're working, but I am trying). Anyway, I bought 4 boxes of the refresh!! She said you can get bottles of refresh from Boots. She said most people like Refresh or Blink. I have to go back in a month for my next aftercare appointment.

My vision is much the same today, sometimes I look out of the window and can read number plates clearly and other times I can't. I think the drops are the key! Overall I'm pleased now, I could live with this vision. I hope the dry eyes get better and my vision settles down. I went out when it was just getting dark and my vision wasn't too bad. I'm yet to go out in pitch dark with lights, so I will let you know how I get on.

Jan - let us know how your aftercare appointment goes and how you are doing.

Sharon
