I had Lasik "The one that cut opens your eye" in 2004.

My eye sight was bad already, both eyes are -10. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 7. I never knew why my eyes are so bad. I though it was caused by sitting too close to the television. No opticians could tell me why. I must admit that the JAM JAR glasses are terrible. I always hated them. I was relieved when I heard about eye laser treatment. But this was my worst decision in my entire life.

I remember the first time I had my eyes laser back in 2004, I was amazed with the result. Although it wasn’t 100%. I was still happy. The aftercare includes standard eye tests. The eye tests were not good. I couldn’t read the letters in the 3rd line down. This is below driving standard. The optician said it will take time for my eyes to heal.

1 year down the line. I feel my eye side was not getting any better. I had to prescribe for a pair of glasses for driving. I am continuously getting tired eyes. Can’t really drive at night as the head lights from the on coming traffic are blinding me. I went back to Optimax and the consultant offered me another go which caused me £100. This was the worst worst worst decision of my life. After the 2nd treatment. My left eye is now long sided and the right eye is short sided. I am so unhappy with it. It’s now got to a point that there’s no turn back. Can’t reverse the process.

2007
I went to the opticians and hopefully I can at lease prescribe a pair of glasses to compensate for driving. The optician said they can not do anything for me. No glasses can help me. I still prescribed a pair and it only helped a little.

2008
I am so unhappy with the treatment. I went back to Optimax again. Hoping that their technology has gone forward and may be able to sort my eyes out. The optician said the same “there’s no much we can do for your eyes”. I ask why. She said my eye’s were never been 100% good, my eye’s were never been fully developed since childhood, the left eye is what they called “lazy eye” too.
I thought a minute there. How come they didn’t tell me before the treatment few years ago. If I know my eye’s wasn’t fully developed since childhood. I wouldn’t do this.

Now I’ve end up with a worst pair of eye’s ever. Wish I never had it done.

Hi there.

At -10.00 there is a large amount of cornea tissue being removed which could leave the eye unstable, especially since Intralase wasn't around at that time. Further surgery afterwards would not have been recommended lightly.

Many good surgeons are recommending epi-lasik as a touch up as it doesn't disturb the flap. There would be significant risk on a third op though and I don't know if any surgeon would attempt it.

Try speaking to the Doctor at Optical Express, Newcastle. He is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgable and experienced in the business.

Good luck.
