Ive read many posts on this forum and i promised myself i would post as a source of info for future patients. ok... im male, mid twenties and had a Rx of 6.5 in each eye(blind as a bat). saw the optimax advert on msn and went along to the consultation. This was a fairly pleasent experience and i was recommended epi-lazik due to me playin alot of football and epi needs no flap creating. I prepared myself for epi lasik and had my operation booked for 06/04/09(three days ago). On arriving, i met my surgeon, who then suggested im ok to have lasik aswell as epi lasik and the reason why in consulation i was reccommended epi-lasik was because i told the optom that i play a lot of football, but the surgeon said lasik is fine with football, but not sports such as boxing
so this lead me to a dilemma, epi or just lasik???despite this dilemma, i felt quite misinformed somewhere or this could just be a difference of opinion between the two healthcare professionals
anyway, being a wuss, i chose to have the lasik(with wavefront)
the op itself was ok, strange but no pain. after 1 hour came streaming eyes(lasting 5 hours), got to sleep and woke next day and vision was amazing, slightly hazy but defo happy.
on day 2 i had my day afercare appointment, they said the flap fine but no footy for 6 weeks and no gym for 1 week. keep using the drops.
I went and bought flaxseed oil(for dry eye prevention) and vitamin c(for healing)
im on day 3 now aand one eye is starting to dry up and am starting to have slight focusing issues, maybe the brain adjusting. o and couple red marks in the eye, maybe from the suction cup in the operation.
generally so far so good. Ill keep persavering with flaxseed, vitamin c, and the sets of eye drops and shall keep you all updated
one final word, it is scary, but if all goes well(as it has done for me so far touch wood) it could well be the best thing ever
feel free to post any questions!
