I had the implant in my right eye July 2003 and my left Spetember 2003. Both procedures were done by Prof/Dr Ventor (where is he now? also Debbie from the Finchley clinic) who was brilliant as was all the aftercare check-ups.

I had one small problem, about three/four weeks after the procedure on my right eye it started weeping, thought i had an infection. I telephoned the Croydon clinic and explained what was wrong, i was advised that they would get in touch with Prof/Dr Ventor (who was in South Africa at the time doing a lecture) and call me back which they did within the hour. I went to the Croydon clinic the next day to pick up some different eye drops and had an appointment with Prof/Dr Ventor four days later. The cause of the weepy eye was one stitch that hadn't dissolved, within 2 minutes he had removed the stitch and no more weepy eye.

I have just had my second two year check up and am still glases free, this was money well spent in my case.

Also my brother had Lasik the same year and he is still glasses free too.

Hi Lesley,

I've just been turned away from another very well know clinic as the surgeon wasn't happy to perform the Lasikplus with Wavefront and Intralase on my left eye (px is +5.00 with lazy eye).  He also didn't want to go ahead with the right eye incase anything went wrong and I would be left with very poor vision.  I was so gutted when he told me this.  I am now in a dilemma and have been doing research on ICL's but haven't discussed this yet with the surgeon.  Could you give me any more info please.

hi, glad to hear your implants went so well. Was your own lens in your eye removed or did you have to ones which attach to the iris?

I had mine done Nov 2006 -one was ok but the right had to be removed due to it rubbing against the iris . I am now left with one eye at +1 and the right at -11 !!

Optimax propose to do surgery again but not sure when

Prof Venter went to Optical express in Feb this year but I am seeing him in London next Saturday to see what he thinks should happen to my eye .I wish he had stayed at optimax ,his experience and the fact he had done so many procedures was reassuring the other surgeons are ok for laser but I dont think they are that sure of the phakic icls
