I had lasik intralase with wavefront on 29th January this year. I was really nervous that morning but Dr Anwar and the rest of the staff (Bibi, Stephanie and Dawn) made me feel a lot more relaxed they were fantastic!! The procedure itself was better than i thought and was definitely pain free. I had read lots of literature beforehand and wasn't really sure that it would really be pain free like everyone said but it actually was. I have to admit there was a bit of discomfort when the flap was being made, but Dr Anwar talked all the way through and explained every single thing that was going on so focusing on his voice and on Stephanie and Dawn telling me how well I was doing, I really had no time to think about discomfort too much and then the next thing I knew the whole thing was over!! It was so quick.
I went home and it was starting to be a bit uncomfortable (like lots of grit or sand in my eyes) so I took 2 paracetamol and 1 ibuprofren and went to sleep for 3-4 hours then woke up and was amazed that i could actually see. i had some dinner and went back to bed and dozed for a while then got up for a wee while and went back to bed. I actually found it was easier to stay in a room that was a wee bit darker than usual just for that first day and night.
The next day when i got up i couldn't believe that i could see without my glasses or lenses. it's fantastic!!! it took a week or so for it to settle but at my week checkup i had great vision and now i've better than 20/20 vision. I've had glasses for 27 years so this is amazing!!! anyone thinking or hesitating about going for laser correction should just go for it. It took me 8 years to pluck up the courage and now I wish I'd done it years ago. Glasgow is a great clinic - the staff are fantastic and really know how to make you relax about everything.
