I had surgery in Belfast on 5th March for a plus prescription. I was to expect a good distance vision but they told me to expect to need reading glasses. For the first month or so I didn't need glasses for reading even small text, but now I need them for very small print. I don't need them for the computer though which I'm really pleased about. My distance isn't as good as I had thought it would be, but I still think my eyes are changing, sometimes my distance is better than others. I'm fine for driving and on the whole I am really pleased I had the surgery. I have another appointment with Optimax tomorrow, so I'll see what they say, I suppose I could need a top up as a lot of people do.
The actual surgery itself was completely pain free, I was so nervous, but it was a quick painless process. I went back to the clinic day after treatment for a check. The day of the treatment the doctor put a contact lens in one eye which he was to remove the next day. He didn't remove this and I totally forgot about the lens. It was later that night that it dawned on me that it was still in my eye and I had to take it out myself which freaked me out a bit. I thought this was a bit careless of him.

Hi Paul
it can take a few weeks for your vision to stabalise. After treatment the optician would have been able to compare your distance vision pre op/post op ?
The contact lens is put in to protect your eye, think I would have left the consultant to remove it, but sounds like you are ok.
Ps. ANY POTENTIAL PATIENTS...I still have some free consultation and £500 off treatment vouchers.
If anyone would like one please text or e mail me your full name and address. I'll send to you free of charge.
pps please read my other blogs on my treatment.

The consultant didn't remove the lens, that's why I removed it, I didn't want to leave it in for too long, it was a Saturday night. How long can you leave it in for?
