Well, I had the surgery on the 17th on March. I had LASIK and Wavefront surgery on both eyes... It's been nealy 3 months since and I have to say that it was the BEST decision of my life.
To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for it and when I got to the day of the surgery and I saw the video of what they do (they had it playing in the waiting room) it scared the heck out of me. I toughened it out though and when it came to the surgery itself, I was even more scared than before.
I have to say, they do lie about the anestetic eye drops though. I didn't feel a thing (pain-wise), but they said it was like looking through water... and it wasn't. I'll spare the details, but sufficed to say, I needed to get a nurse to hold my hand as I watched the surgery happen. I'm not afraid to admit that
The surgery was over in about 10 minutes and right from the get-go, I could see clearly after over 20 years wearing glasses for short-sightedness. It was amazing. Once the anestetic wore off, I wasn't so impressed. I may have just gotten the bad chance of it all, but the bandage contact lens in my right eye was irritable as hell. Having slept off as much of the first 3 days (the time for the contact lenses), only being woken up to put in the eye drops and to eat (etc), I can say I didn't enjoy that but it was still worth it.
After the bandage contact lenses were taken out (with forceps...), my right eye got a lot better very quickly.
I still say this was the best decision of my life because despite a few days of irritation, a still-continuing eye drops (I've finished the prescribed course and am now on just the Refresh eye drops) and a tad of light sensitivity while outside, I can say that, barring accidents and unforeseen events, my eyesight will be perfect for the next at least 20 years.
Just in case you wish to know, I originally had a prescription of about 5.75 in each eye (roughly at that point) and now I have apparently BETTER than 20-20 vision.
However, I offer one main bit of advice. If you're travelling a long distance for the surgery (I had to go from Brighton to London), make SURE you have all the documents if you intend to get the payment plan. Don't be silly and forget them like I did and have to pay it all upfront (not that I mind... like I said before, it was well worth it all for the freedom I can now enjoy)
