Hi If any of the admin staff are watching the forums, I have booked into Leeds for a consultation and treatment the same day, I am in my mid forties with a +3.00 and +2.75 prescription for contact lenses. Read pretty much everything about treatment from everywhere and I expect I will need Lasik treatment and will also possible go for the wavefront as well. Most information says to make sure that the optician doing the treatment is properly qualified and experienced in the procedure and also cheaper quotes can be on older less up to date equipment, what can you tell me to put my mind at rest? Optimax does seem to be more competitive than most but would hate to go for the cheaper option at the expense of experience and the right kit. I guess I would feel happy to hear you say you have the best most experienced staff with the latest and most up to date machines. Thats right isn't it? Don't cross your fingers when you type the answer.

| Hi there, I had my eyes done at leeds clinic last year. The staff are excellant and the surgeon was fantastic (Dr Samuals) I dont think you can go wrong with choosing this clinic as I felt very relaxed and Dr Samuals was straight to the point with all the information making me feel very much at ease. My perscription was different -3.00 but I could read a number plate as soon as I left the clinic. I now have 20/20 vision and had no complications. The treatment I had was Lasik Wavefront due to the fact I have larger than average pupils. Good luck .............................. Cinders

| Hi Peter, Some of the other companies will tell you that our equipment is old and out of date, and cite this as a reason why our treatments are cheaper than others. There are 2 main machines that we use, the Japanese Nidek EC5000 Excimer laser platform and the American Intralase Femtosecond laser. The Nidek laser is responsible for correcting your vision. The great thing about this platform is that it is upgradeable. So regardless of chassis age, we can make sure that it is always up to date with technology. This is one of the reasons we can remain cheaper, we do not have to buy whole new lasers every two or three years. The Nidek laser in Leeds was purchased in 2005, and had a major upgrade in mid 2006, although I have to say that I do not believe this to be particularly relevant. All our lasers are rigourously maintained and kept up to date. The Intralase laser we use is EXACTLY the same as used elsewhere in the UK. Not much more to say on this point! It is very true that you must have a doctor that is experienced. We do this selection process for you, but of course we are more than happy for you to research any doctor you see, you must have as much confidence in him as we do! I hope this helps, please let us know how you got on! thanks Nick
