I have an astigmatism - one eye is -0.75 and I can live with that (wearing glasses and contacts does not bother me) and I am not looking to get that eye lasered. The other eye is -9.0 and I currently wear a contact lense on that eye which helps but it is not great. The -0.75 and -9.0 bit is the sphere reading on my prescription. I don't know what the cylinder and axis is in my bad eye as it is not filled in on my prescription(?) (it's -1 and 170 respectively in my good eye).

Will laser surgery improve things at all in my bad eye? I am not looking for a magic fix, I know I will have to continue to wear contacts/glasses - I just would like my eye without lenses to be improved slightly so that the lenses would then have a better effect. Does that make sense? For me, any improvement is better than nothing!

Also, I have a job that could potentially put me in a "contact" situation plus I love mountain biking and seem to be quite good at falling off , so am I right in thinking that implanted contact lenses would not really be a safe option?
