Hi,

I notice alot of adds saying that the treatment costs just 395 per eye. Also I see pay nothing now and pay it in 2years time interest free. It's just that I notice that some people mention prices and it seems alot higher. What are these extras people talk about? I am a -2 in both eyes, short sighted and would prefer the no blade option. Any idea how much it may cost and any deals at the moment? Thanks a million.

The £395 per eye is for the Epi- Lazek treatment, ie non cuting no frills, what happens is you go, and they offer you the lasik treatment which is the flap creation one, thats £895 per eye, then they add to it £395 per eye for a lazer to cut the flap instead of the blade, and then add £395 per eye for wavefront which is apparently there to stop halo's and hazing and give you better night vision. So the top price one is £1685 per eye, however if you go for the full treatment you can use one of the £400 off vouchers you get on ebay, as they are only valid if you go the whole hog.

I'm having Epi-Lazek today at 3, with no Wavefront, I'll be putting up a blog to tell my experiences

WOW! Usually everything cheaper in the U.K. but for once unfortunately it's not. Think I'll be getting it done in the south. Much cheaper. Good luck with yours.

Hi just to let you know there is an Ebay option where optimax give the fullworks treatment (intralase, wavefront lasik) for £2580 which is a bit better than paying the £3370 suggested. If you go to ebay and search laser eye surgery there should be a listing posted by Russell Ambrose who is the ower of Optimax. The best advice for price would be see what you need when you get there. If you don't need any of the fancy extras you could get your surgery for under £800 with epi lasek. But if you are a wimp like me then you would want bladeless and so called pain free with a faster healing time lasik which comes at a bigger price. After all it is your decision and it is up to you what you expect from surgery

Good luck and keep us posted,

Shelley

Hi

I recently had Lasik intralase wavefront treatment (the full works) and got pay nothing for 6 months then take 24 months interest free payments - this offer was only valid on the most expensive treatment. This was a real selling point for me as I was desperate to get rid of the specs and made the finaces easier.

I also asked if Optimax would price match a cheaper quote from Optical Express (who did not offer such a long interest free repayment plan - think it was just 10 months and over stretched me as monthly payments were over £300 a month). Optimax were more than happy to price match - I don't normally feel I can ask for discount but thought if I don't ask I wouldn't get it. You just need to have had a consultation with another place and have a written quote from them. I had consultations at 2 places as I wanted 2 different peoples professional opinions as to what to have and the state of my eyes etc

Also in Reception I noticed a poster saying after my treatment introduce a friend to have treatment and we would both get £100 discount so please feel free to contact me and use my name for discount for you and £100 for me! Think this is not valid with any other offer if I remember rightly !

Anyway I have wanted laser eye treatment for so long and now I have had it (2 weeks ago) I am amazed at the speed of recovery and do wish I had been brave enough to have it done years ago - it is much better now with the flap being done by laser and no blades involved which put me off before. Putting in drops for the 1st week was all I seemed to do but now just on refresh 12 times a day, I can see really well - cleared to drive within 48 hours of procedure and now have a cool pair of shades that I am happy to wear !

It does seem like a lot of money but I went for the top treatment as figured I would only really be able to afford to have it done once so get the best treatment there and then.

Regards

Heather
