| Just thought i'd add a mini update. I've now stopped taking flaxseed tablets and am only taking my eyedrops very occassionally. Last time about 3 days ago. Still get the mistiness now and then but vision definately improving.

| I thought i was in the home straight, how wrong i was. The vision in my right eye seems to have got worse. I went for my check up yesterday and i couldn't read the second from bottom line with my right eye. My right eye is now +0.75 with 0.75 astigmatism and my left is -0.25 with 0.5 astigmatism. They're on about a possible re-treat although they say they couldn't guarantee the outcome would be better. My vision is still okay and the only time it bothers me is under artificial light where things look a bit glary (could be the astigmatism i guess?). Really don't want a re-treat. They've asked me to go back in 3 months. Joe

Went back yesterday. They wanted to put some drops in my eyes to fix the focus of my eyes as they believe i could have what they call an underlying prescription. On my eye test i could read most of the bottom line but other parts of the test like when one eye was covered up i struggled to read it. Because i had to drive part of the way home i declined but will be going back on the 6th of May.
I asked about the possibility of a retreat (depending on the results of the tests on the 6th of May) and i can have the retreat if my prescription is above 0.5. There isn't a cut off time as the flap i'm told can be re-opened by the surgeon by following the scar tissue from the initial cut. I'll ask more questions about this next time.
Still taking flaxseed. Vision good but as before still a little hazy under artificial lighting.
They've also asked me to switch back to refresh drops when i need them and not to use the hypromellose which i've been using once or twice a day.

Had my appointment yesterday. They confirmed i had a hidden prescription. I need to see Dr Madhusudhan who is an expert in situations like this. I've got to write down and draw what i see. Dr Madhusudhan works in Liverpool so is only down here every few months. So i'm waiting for Optimax to contact me when he's in London.

Eyesight no different but totally off the drops now.

Hi there..in answer to your question i'm not really sure..it's complicated. Basically when each eye is tested seperately i struggle to focus on the bottom line but when i use the 2 eyes they work better than they should..i think !! Complicated.
I went for my check up.Mr Madhu wasn't there but i saw one of his team. After a few tests that i haven't had before i had a lengthy eye test and then saw the specialist. My right eye has deteriorated from +0.75 to +1.5 my left from -0.75 to -1.00. As you can imagine i was quiet worried as that's quiet a jump.
I was told the reason that i am getting some glare / dodgy night vision was because i have large pupils and the wavefront was not guaranteed to cure this although it helps.
Also been given some drops to see if it improves my vison and been told to go back and see the specialist in 4-5 weeks where depending on my vision they can give me some other drops to improve my night vison.
On the retreatment front i was told that if i wanted a retreat on the right eye they would give me epi-lasik surface treatment as this was safer. I have been talking with a few people on the forums about retreatment and this is what they are now offering for small touch up treatments. I asked why the flap was not lifted and lasik used. The specialist explained me that this COULD lead to complications lifting the flap and for small top treatments it was safer to go for the epi. He said that for a retreatment for me +1.5 the amount that would be taken off the eye would be minimal. I asked if this would disturb the flap but he said that my eyes had healed beautifully and that the flap wouldn't move.
Bottom line,My vison is still generally very good. I still haven't bought a pair of reading specs so no major probs. But Still..as i've said many times..will try and get this sorted before i'm done.
Will update in a few weeks.
Joe

Hi everyone
I've not been back to Optimax since as i found i wasn't getting anywhere with them. My eyesight is still very good. Glare is not as noticeable and i have no issues with my vision at all. I've still not bought any reading glasses and only have trouble reading the smallest of text on bottles etc. I stopped taking flaxseed and haven't bought any drops for months.
I hope my experiences have helped you make up your mind whether its for you or not.
Good luck
Joe

thanks for the update, if I can make 2 comments:
-may be useful to say Joe what your original presciption was, I am guessing it was quite severe ?
-since you had treatment18 months ago technology has dramatically improved and now potential issues are extremely rare, from the research I have done.
So POTENTIAL PATIENTS:
