I've been for a consultation this morning at the Finchley Road branch and they have recommended that I go for Intralase LASIK with Wavefront. I am just a bit sceptical over whether this is the best treatment option for me, or whether they are pushing this option as it is the most expensive. Has anyone actually been recommended anything else? Is 'traditional' LASIK (where they use a blade) really that bad? And is the more painful Epi-Lasek actually a better treatment? What happens if you don't have Wavefront?
I am more than a little confused over what to do. I obviously want the best treatment, even if it does cost more, but I don't want to be paying for extras when I don't need them.
Has anyone any advice for me? I'd really appreciate it.
On a side note, I have been reading that eye sight improves day by day. So while it is still improving, have people found it necessary to wear glasses or would this mean eyes wouldn't heal? And also, after LASIK or Intralase LASIK, is it true you can never where contact lenses again, even if your eye sight doesn't improve enough not to need them/glasses?
Thanks for you help! All comments appreciated.

My understanding is that you can't ever wear contact lenses again, but you really need to ask a consultant. Also they'll be in the best position to advise what is best for you. I have heard someone say that the lasek treatment (where they don't actually cut your eye, and its also the cheaper option) is better, but I don't remember the circumstances of why its better. I went for the lasik with the laser flap and wavefront. I'm 9 weeks post surgery and I have to say I'm a little disappointed with my results. Although I'm clinically a "success", I'm still a little short-sighted in each eye and still have some astigmatism in both. It's ok for driving, going out etc, but I'm finding reading and VDU work a strain

I had interalase with wavefront at newcastle last week. it was the best thing i've ever done. Yes it was expensive at about £3500 but your eyes are worth every penny. The staff were great, really friendly. Doctor was great, Dr Madhu. There was really no pain and the suction ring is fine. No pain afterwards, my eyes did water when i got home for a couple of hours, just like i was chopping onions but then they were fine. I now have better vision than i had when i had glasses.
