Q20742 - FAQ: How long is the healing process and what do I have to avoid while healing. Would I need to take time off work? Thank you

Good afternoon Sarah,

On average, after surgery the eye will take 3 months to fully heal and up to 6 months to settle.  During this time the main period of healing is within the first 4 weeks and most activities (that you need to avoid) are limited during this period.  Depending on the treatment you have the initial recovery (the time it takes for the sight to clear after surgery) will vary.  For LASEK, on average this period lasts for about 3-5 days.  For LASIK, on average this period lasts about 12 hours.  Please be aware that these are average times and may vary depending on prescription and also your own eyes healing.  You will need at least this amount of time off work but please look for up to 1 week off work just to be on the safe side.

If you have any further questions or would be interested in booking a consultation appointment then please contact me on 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.
