When I wear soft contacts I have + 2.25 in the left eye for reading and + 0.75 in the right eye for distance. With both eyes I do not need distance glasses. Based on this information what can you do for me, what is it likey to cost and how permanent is it. I have had my present prescription for over a year. Is Bristol the nearest, I live in North Cornwall.

Abstract:
Good afternoon Graham,

Based on your prescription and the contact lenses that you wear you sound like an ideal candidate for our Monovision correction. This correction will treat the eyes in much the same way your contact do so you would not need glasses for distance or reading and because you already wear glasses on this basis, you should adjust to the Monovision immediately. The costs involved will depend on which laser variation we would need to use (based on conditions of the eye) which will be determined at consultation. Monovision is a permanent correction.

Yes, Bristol would be your nearest clinic to North Cornwall. They will do both the consultation and treatments there and due to the length of travel, if you would like they could do a same day appointment. This would need to be arranged through us. If you have any further questions, would like to discuss the information or would be interested in arranging an appointment please call me on 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

i wear glasses for distance & reading i also have cataract in my left eye is there corrections for all my symptoms

Abstract:
Good afternoon Ian,

Yes, the only option for treatment would be the RLE/Cataract Operation. The effects of the CK, in regards to the vision experienced, is pretty much the same as you would get with Monovision but, the Monovision is permanent and the results achieved are much better. We then prepare the eye for treatment, during this there may be a bit of pressure experienced. It is not painful, no worse than pressing on your eye. Then the laser will treat the eye but you will not feel anything during this part. After, the surgeon will clean and if necessary put a contact lens in the eye.

You are in the theatre for about 15 minutes during which you will be under the laser for no more than 60 secs per eye. It is completely pain free and the thought of treatment is always worse than the actual act itself.

If you are interested in attending a consultation or would like to discuss the information then please call 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax .co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

I am short sighted with quite a strong prescription. There are options available to you, with laser surgery the treatment route is called Monovision (click the link to read further). There is an alternate option, the RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange) is another option to treat both aspects of vision.

At consultation, we will test the conditions and can advise which may be the better route for you as we can test the Monovision and show you what this would be like to see if it was a treatment option you would proceed with. If not, then the RLE is the alternate option.

If you have any questions, would like to discuss the information or arrange for a consultation appointment then please call me on 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

I suffer from dry eyes and cannot wear contact lenses because of it. The more popular treatment is the Intralase LASIK treatment due to the quick recovery and little discomfort experienced during this. The exact cost for treatment will be given at consultation as well. You need to be aware, that as you wear varifocles, you may require reading glasses after treatment or consider an option known as Monovision. This will be explained and tested for at consultation.

If you have any further questions or would like to arrange an appointment then please call me on 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

How long after intralase lasik & wavefront procedure for monovision can I expect the hazyness and some clarity for middle and long distance. ? Majority of patients will find their vision clear within the first week. Some patients it can take up to the first month and in some cases it can take up to 3 months. During the recovery, you will experience a little bit of haze. With Monovision, if this is happening to the distance eye (as with most cases it is just the one eye) then your distance will be a little hazy but this should improve over the next few weeks. We will monitor the eyes for you during this term.

Kind regards,
David.

Could you please tell me if i wear bicocal glasses could i still have laser surgery on my eyes.regardsStan

Abstract:
Good afternoon Stan,

There is a possibility that you would be suitable for laser surgery but you may require a treatment known as Monovision. Our results are based on all Intralase LASIK treatments from the 1st of July 2006 until recent, including Monovision and also partially corrected patients. You can also use Tesco Vouchers as either part or full payment towards any cost

If you would be interested in coming along for a free consultation, have any further questions or would like to discuss this further then please call 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

Very interested, but cant see anything about your payment plans on the website. You will only know the exact cost at consultation so it is only at consultation that you would find out about the finance plans. The plans range from 6 months to 4 years and are dependant on the cost of the treatment. Anything over 2 years would be subject to a credit check.

The same applies to cost, I could look at a price range for you but in order to do so I would need to know your prescription information. Then at consultation, once we have tested your eyes conditions we can tell you the exact cost for your treatment.

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss any information (please have your prescription to hand) or would be interested in arranging a free consultation then please either call 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax .co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

I am thinking of getting laser eye treatment, and i was wondering what is the right procedure for my eyes. I am a -5.50 in my right and -6.00 in my left and have a astigmatism in my left eye. Also i would like to use my tesco clubcard vouchers, is that still possible?

Abstract:
Good afternoon,

At this stage we cannot say what procedure you would be best suited for as this is what the consultation is for. During this we test your eyes conditions and advise which treatment and variation you would be best suited for. In general it would most likely be LASIK and based on the strength of the prescription it would more than likely be the Intralase LASIK variation. You are still in range for LASEK so this would still be a treatment option should you not be suitable for LASIK.

Yes, you can still use tesco clubcard vouchers towards your treatment cost. There are terms and conditions which will be explained at consultation. Once you know the treatment cost you can work out the discount applicable from the vouchers. Once you are happy with everything you can then cash in the vouchers and book treatment.

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss any information or would be interested in coming in for a consultation then please contact me on either 01733 297 193 or email david.knight@optimax.co.uk.

Kind regards,
David.

i also work for the NHS would i get a discount on laser surgery? would i just have to show my nhs name badge card to get money off, or fill in some kind of form or more ID somehow of working for NHS

Abstract:
Good morning Helen,

That is correct, NHS staff get corporate discount off treatment. That would include the costs as well. At this stage what I can advise is that you may need to consider a treatment option known as Monovision (click the link to read further).

At consultation we will test your eyes and determine which treatment variation you would be best suited for. From there we can then determine the exact cost for treatment as well. We also provide you with specific success rates and percentages to show you what possible result could be achieved based on the treatment type and your prescription and eye condition information. Consultations are free and there is no obligation.

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss any information or book in for a consultation then please call 01733 297 193 and ask for David.

Kind regards,
David.

PUPIL DIAMETER. I have a pupil diameter of about 8 mm. What are my options in regards to LASIK? Sever imparement during nigth vision can happen with large pupils after LASIK. Or do you charge on top of that? Thanks.

Abstract:
Good morning Inigo,

Standard LASIK would not be suitable for you due to the large pupils, you would need to have the Wavefront addition and even then there are risks that night vision could still become impaired. These are all things that we would test for and discuss during the consultation. If the pupils are too large, we would either consider LASEK or not proceed with the treatment for you.

The price of treatment increases with the strength of the prescription so 4 dioptres you would be looking at round about £995 (this is estimate based on today's prices) per eye. However, based on the information you would not be suitable for standard treatment. You would need at least LASIK Wavefront or LASEK Wavefront as a minimum. We can give you the exact cost at consultation.

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss any information or book in for a consultation then please call 01733 297 193 and ask for David.

Kind regards,
David.

Hi,I am considering lasik surgery and I see that I will not be able to drive for 7 - 14 days.
